Buttock or gluteal augmentation is a procedure used to improve the volume, shape, and contour of the buttocks. Buttock augmentation can be achieved through fat grafting, (famously referred to as a Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL), silicone implants, or sometimes a combination of these two techniques.
Fat transfer is a procedure that is growing in popularity and works by using the patient's own fat to add natural-looking volume to the buttocks. Butt implants are synthetic devices inserted into the buttock area for dramatic increase in volume.
Especially for women, waist, butt and hips are the areas where fat accumulates. These undesired regional fats usually settle on the sides and bottom of the butt. In hip aesthetic surgery, these regional fats are collected, processed and given to the needed areas of the butt as a fat graft. Thus, by shaping the body, an hourglass appearance is obtained with a thin waist and full butt, as well as a tighter and shaped butt.
Silicone implants is preferable used for the people with weak and small butts. Implants typically add volume. This is something that injections and fat grafting can’t do alone. The butt is made upright and rounded. The prosthesis applied to the buttock is different from breast prostheses. It has thicker walls and is placed inside the muscle in the butt area.
Sometimes a combination of these two technics is used for a better result. It should be consulted with our plastic surgeon regarding your requests. The most accurate method is decided according to the person's butt volume, whether there is sagging in the butt, and whether you had a butt lift surgery before.
What should I expect during the recovery period?
After surgery, you usually need to stay in the hospital overnight. An additional night may be required for prosthetic surgeries.
After the operation, a special corset must be worn. The corset is used for an average of 6 weeks. Thus, edema and swelling in the operation area are minimized. may have difficulty moving.
There may be tingling and pain. It is an expected situation. These complaints disappear within a few days. A special pillow is provided for the patient to sit on (BBL pillow). During the shaping process, it is important to use a pillow while sitting. In addition, the use of special pillows helps the patient in comfort and pain control.
The butt will take its final appearance approximately 3 months after the operation.
What should I expect as a result after buttock enhancement?
The tissues will settle a little within the first 3-6 months and the scarring can take up to two years to fade to its mature level. Some visible scars will remain, but the overall results are long-lasting, provided if you maintain a stable weight and general fitness. As your body ages, it is natural to lose some firmness. However, most of your initial improvement should remain.
The permanence depends on the method used to enlarge the butt. Silicone applications are completely permanent. Over time, your butt's size and shape can continue to change due to aging and gravity. When the hip is augmented with fillers or your own fat tissue, there will be a meltdown over time. For example, in fat transfer, approximately 50-60% of the fat injected into the butt melts over time. However, the remaining adipose tissue may still be enough to make the hip appear fuller, or a new injection may be required.
